Saturday night, December 27th, my adult children and their spouse came to dinner. We had baby back ribs, baked potato, salad, green beans and apple pie ala mode for the menu. The guests were; Mike and Lillian, Becky and Lance Hancock; Colette, Mark Kremin, and their daughter, Joleen. She now classified as an adult. Later, Lance's daughter, Jessica, came and brought Jerika, Lance's youngest. All in all it was a fun evening with memories being renewed. Each seemed to have their own version of the memory! I gave each family a CD of Jerry's voice recording some of his workdays. At the end he is talking to Levi and Cody when they were about 4 and 5 years old. (Jerry has been gone 22 years now) It is fun to hear his voice and compare it to one of his children or grandchildren. Colette thinks Scott sounds like him. For those that are reading this and wondering who is who here is a list of children. Mike, Scott, Kirk, Colette and Lance. Jerry was their dad. Levi and Cody are Scott's sons.

Today Chuck and I went to the Roosevelt Hospital Maternity Ward Nurse's desk and gave them 16 crocheted infant hats. They said they were always glad to get them and thought these were quite cute. We then went to the Basin Care Center and gave 11 hats for the patrons. This time of year they were very appreciated. Here is a picture of one of them.

This Christmas Season Chuck was able to play Santa at our local bookstore right after Thanksgiving. He give out candy canes to about 155 children in 2 hours. He then went to Wal Mart two saturdays in row and saw about as many in 4 hours each time. The store took pictures of he and the children for free. He has many cute stories of the wishes of children. He loves doing this. He went to three family parties, two Ward parties and a few family homes. We sent his suit to the cleaners last January and it faded onto the white fir! They worked on it until November when he had to have it. So after the first of the year we will order a new one. If he is going to do this he needs to look his best. He subbed for two different Santa's that couldn't make it to Vernal because of the snow. Christmas Eve he had engagements from 3pm until 7:30pm. Merry Christmas to All!

Cub Scout Event

On December 4th our Pack 890 presented two Arrow of Light Awards. Terrie Mattson is our Indian Princess and Chuck is the Chief. There is a blanket for each family to sit on in front of our 'fire'. In front of each family is a row of seven feathers of different colors with different meanings. As Terrie explains the meaning the parent hands the feather to the Cub Scout to put on his arrow. The last one represents Love and is the Eagle feather. The Cubs are then presented with a wooden plaque with their name on it to hang the arrow on. Chuck and I make these plaques. There are eight out of twenty Activity Badges required for the Arrow of Light. These two Cubs have earned all twenty badges! Our leaders work hard with the Scouts. Here is a picture of the plaque.

Kirk and Leigh Ann Hancock live in Rainier, Oregon with their two children, Kaylah-15 years old and Cody-13 years old. Kirk is #3 in the Hancock family.

Kirk has tried just about everything to kill or get rid of the moles in his yard. It looks like he has succeeded.

Hawaiian Trip 11-07-08

Chuck and I flew to Honolulu, Hawaii on friday, November 7, 2008. We stayed at one of our Time Share Hotels, The Imperial Hawaiian on Lewer Street. On saturday, we flew to the Big Island for a 12 hour tour. Our lunch stop was at a base of a volcano that was steaming. I didn't know that they would let you get this close! It was a long day, but a very good one. The next day was sunday and we attended Church at the Honolulu Tabernacle that was built before the war. It is the most beautiful Chapel that I have seen. Monday we went to the Polynesian Cultural Center, another all day affair. Our tour guide was a Samoan and did such a good job. The lulau was great and afterwards we took a short tour to the LDS Temple grounds. On the way up there we saw many beautiful beaches. Tuesday we walked to the beach and watched the surfers. You can rent beach chairs and umbrellas. Who would have thought that in November we would need shade? The weather was in the high 70's while we were there. Since we left cold weather I couldn't believe that I wouldn't need warm clothing! Wednesday we took a tour around the island of Oahu, saw turtles (that are protected), Dole pineapple farms, surfer beaches (where competition is held), a little fruit stand and much of the local scenery. A long good day. Thursday we took a tour to Pearl Harbor, the Arizona and the battleship Missouri.(where the peace treaty with Japan was signed) Friday we had to check out by 11am and wait in the Owner's Lounge until going to the airport to catch the 10pm flight home. We arrived in Salt Lake City at 7am. A long 30 hours. We were glad to go and glad to get home. Chuck planned it for 11 months!
